vinegar is acidic, limescale is alkali. They react, much better with a bit of heat.

Presuming they have not been cleaned over and over in a dishwasher with cheap dishwasher soap. Suggest buy a small box of brand name dishwasher soap. Place glasses and a half cup of the soap in the sink, fill with hot water, let sit for several hours.result will not only be clean glasses, should you have a white porcelain sink, it will be as white as the day it was bought.

Buy a gallon of vinegar and soak the glasses in a sinkful, until they are clean. Be sure to check them when they are dry. I had some I was given that I had to redo because they looked great wet, I drained the sink, then I discovered they needed more time soaking before they were really descaled.
It does make the kitchen smell like pickles! FYI

Just take some baking soda, mix it with a very small amount of vinegar to make a paste, and then put it on the carpet with an old toothbrush. Allow it to dry, then vacuum. If the stain is somewhat removed or lightened up, repeat again. Or small amount of Swarfega or WD-40. Worth testing a very small amount of these things to see what works best. Have also heard of the brown paper and iron method.

In a large stockpot bring equal parts of water and vinegar to a boil. Remove from heat. Place the glasses into the solution and let it sit overnight. Remove glasses from solution and wash. Your glasses should sparkle!
Good luck.

Hot water with a little dtergent in it.
After washing rinse in hot water.
Dry with a very dry tea towel. If the towel becomes damp after use, use another as a damp one will cause streaks.
