I almost think death was too good for him, because he didn't fear death, so it wasn't really a punishment, per se. As for whether or not the whole world should be able to see an execution, I'm not sure how I feel. I've heard it said that if executions were public, there would be a major shift in public thinking on the death penalty, but I don't know if that's true. I think most people are desensitized to seeing death (unless it's in person) because we see so very much of it through various forms of media our entire lives. I'm not sure what impact it all has.

you may not blame me for vote casting Bush in, i'm Australian and easily vote in Aussie elections. i don't think of all and sundry would desire to be compelled to observe the execution yet i think of it somewhat is sturdy that it became videoed, not that i will watch, as info that Saddam is lifeless. without those photos some conspiracy concept junkie could start up asserting that Saddam is being hidden via the CIA or some crap like that.

Too bad they didn't actually show him dangling from the end of the rope...at least that I've been able to find. But what about Osama? Hussein was just a hobby. While I support our troops, we destroyed a country based on false information and lies. We would have been better off to send in a couple of assassins and take him out rather than invade a country. We've spent several years, billions of dollars and over 3000 lives to hang a guy who had nothing to do at least directly with the 9/11 tragedy.

I just watched it, and honestly thought it was another one of those tapes that wouldn't show the whole thing. I was appalled to see that it was the whole thing, right up to the bloody end.
I honestly don't know what I think. On the one hand, it seems only fair to think of how many victims he caused pain to, and their families should have the right to justice. But on the other hand, he had family as well and was a human being also.
The right for the media to publicize executions has been a hot topic for many years. I don't think I will ever want to witness one, especially after seeing that video. I feel a little sick...

For all of you who think that Saddam should have spent life in prison, let me educate you. As part of the Geneva Convention, a former president is protected while in custody. While we were holding him, he was disrespectful, threatening and rude to the American soldiers guarding him. He demanded, and received due to his position, better living quarters, extravegent meals and even simple pleasures such as Doritos. He was living a life of luxury, even while in prison. To do that to him for life would not be a punishment. And I, as a tax payer, would not want to pay for that. I'm glad that he's gone and will no longer be a burden, financial or otherwise, to anyone in the world.

An eye for an eye will make the entire world blind.
In my opinion, Saddam should have been imprisoned for life, thus making him suffer a long painful death for a long time for the crimes that he has committed rather than hanging him like that.

He didnt consider anyone else feelings, or those of their familys when he ordered people shot into ditches or buried alive or killed in many terrible deaths., He was an evil, sick and twisted man, Vain, and self important. Perhaps the world needs to see what happens to a man like him.

i have no intention of watching it. i've never seen a murder nor been to a funeral so this would not be a good first experience. I have to say its not right. why it was recorded is beyond me? for proof? records? Since you saw it do u know who taped it? it just seems that so many people need closure by watching him die due to the fact that he is hated by so many and he has hurt the families and friends of many.
