If you are referring to metabolic respiration, then plants undergo the same type, aerobic respiration, as humans and a good number of other living things on Earth. Contrary to the previous answer, photosynthesis IS NOT plant's respiration. Photosynthesis is the means by which plants obtain glucose. Metabolic respiration for plants takes place in the same place as it does in you and I, in the mitochondria. Glucose from photosynthesis first undergoes glycolysis in the cytoplasm to yield ATP and pyruvate. The pyruvate then enters the mitochondria where it begins the citric acid cycle (Kreb's cycle) to be oxidized to generate energy to form more ATP. If you want the exact details you should go sit through second semester biochem, where you'll be forced to memorize the entire process. Loads of fun

Respiration is the process by which an organism obtains energy by reacting oxygen with glucose to give water, carbon dioxide and ATP (energy). The Respiration of the plants is called Photosynthesis.Photosynthesis (photo=light, synthesis=putting together), generally, is the synthesis of sugar from light, carbon dioxide and water, with oxygen as a waste product. It is arguably the most important biochemical pathway known; nearly all life depends on it. It is an extremely complex process, comprised of many coordinated biochemical reactions. It occurs in higher plants, algae, some bacteria, and some protists, organisms collectively referred to as photoautotrophs.
