Wow!
I believe that it all depends upon two things:
Perspective. "Did I learn anything from all of the pain which was inflicted upon me, AND which I (intentionally/unintentionally) inflicted upon others?"
"Did I allow myself to become a better human being (i.e., integrity, physical conditioning, academic knowledge, compassion, sense of justice, etc.)? as a result of having suffered?"
Faith: Just when I've felt that I just couldn't take the mean- spirited, nit picky ambiguity of my stinking life anymore, I slowly, and painfully evolved into a strong and grateful Faith in God (Imagine that; a Christian using the word "evolved" ;].).
Faith allows me to understand that things DO happen for a reason, and that we are here for two main reasons:
To do good for others (integrity, compassion, justice, forgiveness).
To give others the opportunity to good (compassion, forgiveness).
Allowing God to help me to shoulder my worldly burdens allows me to continue to strive to become the best person that I can be; after all, that's what God had in mind all along, didn't He?
Peace

Struggles, tragedy and heartbreak are what make each of us stronger. The way we handle each of those situations is what makes us all unique.
My 104 year old grandmother emails us daily and teaches others how. She handles her own finances, calling her accountant monthly. She is a shopaholic and I believe the phrase "shop 'till you drop" was coined because of her. She is enjoying life to the fullest with no regrets except that she can't drive anymore. (However, I think if she still had access to her car, she would.) She has broken many bones and laid in the hospital for months on end at times. But each time she has bounced back almost stronger. Her will and drive are amazing. If my life could be as full as hers I would welcome the thought of living a long life.

the first one. that life was worth living even though there were struggles, tragedy and heartbreak because you cant learn anything if everything is perfect. you only learn through hard times.

It will be the future little time that would primarily occupy thoughts... perhaps trying to live life up at least at such stage without a care...... it would now be possible to throw care out of window due to feeling death to be at hand!
