Yes I think it should. I mean making the law tougher does not guarantee that we will stop everyone from drunk driving it only but it will help in stopping a great deal of people from drinking and driving. This is because there are some people who will get drunk and not be in a state where they can fully make a proper decision. But, at least before they choose to drink they will no the consequences of driving drunk are very severe and they will limit the amount of drinks they have or plan to drink in the vicinity of their own homes or someones house they know they will be sleeping over at. It is such a shame that innocent people are losing their lives because of the choice of another person to drink and drive.

There should definitely be tougher penalties. I still don't understand why they don't make you turn in your keys at a bar if you are going to be drinking. I know everyone would find a way around any legal stepping in personal business, but with so many fatalities, it is criminal to not intervene. It is crazy that people rack up DUI's like it is the new fad. The law is sending the message it is not that big of a deal.

If he's a repeat offender, then yes. Drunk drivers that kill someone should get stiffer penalties than just the involuntary manslaughter charges they face. But rather than putting people away for a DUI, I think they should come up with more solutions to prevent it from happening in the first place.

I think if you drive drunk and kill someone you should be found guilty of 1st degree murder and get the death sentence. If you get caught drunk driving but no accident, 5 years in jail, second offense 25 years. Yes the laws need to so severve it is a deterent to others.

OF COURSE!!!
No matter how you look at it, there is no excuse for driving drunk.
People drive drunk on their own accord. So therefore they should be punished as though they intentionally committed the crime. Unfortunately drunk drivers are mostly punished as though they accidentally drove a car while they were intoxicated.

Absolutely! Anyone caught driving under the influence should lose their license for life and do some serious jail time. This country is way to lenient on drunk driving.

The laws are no gaurantee that no one will ever drive drunk again, so the laws now are sufficient. This person will be charged with manslaughter I believe so since this is a pretty serious crime, he will spend time in prison. How long depends on many factors.
