I made the mistake of buying a Bulldog Security remote start system (Don't EVER buy anything of theirs, it's been nothing but a nightmare since I got it out of the store). After two whole seasons, I finally got it installed and operable... sort of. Every time I hit the brake to shift from park, it kills the engine. Is that normal? I was talking to a friend that said that hers did that as well and you had to do something with the doohickey. Anyway, I finally figured it out the other day and now it kinda sorta halfway works right. Why is it that hitting the brake pedal kills the engine? I would assume that the only way to kill the engine would be through the key, which controls the engine the other 99.999999% of the time, but then again, it took me 6 months to get the piece of junk to work at all.

Yes, Bulldog Security's stuff is that bad. I had to get 3 new control boxes before I finally got one that works. Please Please stay away from them unless you like frustration.......

I'm not sure why you're even asking this question. It sounds to me like you need to take the Bulldog out and throw it in the trash bin.

Those things have a habit of catching fire and burning your car to the ground too. Get rid of it and save the points from asking the question.

There is a kill switch in the brake pedal that shuts the car off unless the key is on in the running position. That kill switch is linked to the brake pedal. This is so you can start your car from inside your warm house to let it warm up without the posibility of Joe Theif coming by and breaking in an already running car and be able to take off. If you put the key in the ignition and turn it to on, it won't die when the brake is pressed.
