Who likes Ghost in the Shell movie or series. What do you like about it. How come not many people know about this awesome series?

I have both graphic novels and they are great. Just one problem: one is credited to Masamune Shirow and the other to Shirow Masamune. Looks like the publisher had a change of Japanese naming policy between the volumes!
Not many people know about it because
a) it's complex and that puts some people off (that is, it appeals to intelligent people :))
b) There's a ton of manga out there and it's easy for a short series like that to get lost in the crowd.
Those raccoon-dog things are a bit crap, though.

I love the series, but the movies are so-so. I also have two of the three soundtracks. Ghost in the Shell is a complex series, and most people don't have the imagination to understand it.

I pretty much like the movie and its sequel the most. Stand Alone Complex has its good qualities too. But its nothing but talk moments can get boring and sometimes confusing. But i do like it for it's innovative future punk style. Many people dont know about this because many people dont know or care for anime.
