How come the first movie is book 2 ("The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe") and not the book 1 which is "The Magician's Nephew"?

because the 2nd book the lion the witch and the wardrobe is more detailed then the first and it explains the movie more so people can understand it better just like star wars so the next movie is going to be the first book.
people at the beginning are wondering why is there narnia? how did it become what it is now and when they see the second movie they say ooh that is why now I understand.

Because The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe was more popular than The Magician's Nephew. If I am not mistaken, C.S. Lewis also wrote The L, T W, & T W before T M N. I think if all the other movies in the Narnia series are as successfull as the first, eventually they will come out with The Magician's Nephew.

it's to get right to the point. "the magicians's nephew" is more of an explanation (how narnia was created, etc) whereas "the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe" starts off with some action. you know, it's all hollywood business, to get some fans and make it a big hit.

The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is the more famous, most well liked and there is debate about the actual order of books. That's my best guess.

Because Narnia's movies are been done in the order that books were published.

The same reason that Lord of the Rings came out before the hobbit and the same reason Starwars episodes 4, 5, 6 came out first before 1,2.3.....to catch the audiences attention and then when they have fans....they make the other ones......
