First time should not be longer then about 10 minutes, after that increase your tanning sessions by about 2 minutes. Couple times a week for the first two months is lots and then 1 per week or bi-weekly is enough tanning to maintain without turning into leather skin. Cover your eyes and make sure that you tan allover(nothing worse than having a tan at the front and back and your sides are white !!! Before you get in the bed sanitize it with a spray that should be provided in the tanning room! Good Luck!

You should wash with a soap that doesn't have any type of animal lard in it. Glycerin soap is usually best (Try Neutrogena). Do not wear suncreen, rather start out at a lower time and work your way up to the full time. If you've never been tanning before I recommend starting at 6 minutes for a 15 minute bed. The last thing you want to do is burn (that's where the danger is). Each day add a minute or two. Usually the lotions that you buy at the salon are pricey but work well with your skin and do not contain things like sunblock or animal lard that will prevent tanning but avoid the sizzle or tinglers they are painful and don't do what they promise. Also-you don't need to be shaved before you tan but you can, this is just more of a prefrence. Don't shower for a half hour after the tanning bed. And remember if it gets too hot in there you can use the towel to cover up any parts of you that get too hot or you can just get out! And my last tip is that you may want to exfoliate your body before tanning to help gain maximum color. For an at home remedy try mixing olive oil and salt together in the palm of your hand and then scrubbing your whole body with it in the shower the night before tanning! It will give your body a great glow and leave skin feeling soft and smooth! Good Luck & Have fun at prom!

Its great to get a tan. My advice is just don"t stay in a tanning bed too long, or use it everyday. My cousin has laid in a tanning bed so much, that her skin is like rubber. Over doing it, could effect your skin as you get older.

you really shouldn't tan but if you insist. try going to your local tanning bed shop and get a tan there. they also ask you if you want the spray tans. the spray tans is where you are locked up in a clear mime tank type thing and their is a machine sprayer.you have to move aroud front back sides all of that and let it dry. it dries very quickly.

I think you should not tan at all. Some day when you are older you are going to wish you had protected your skin instead of abusing it. Youth is wasted on the young!
