You have what is called a Liberty head nickel ( V nickel to a lot of collectors). It is not a rare or scarce date, it had a mintage of 30,169,353. It is worth $1.25 in grade good and $7.00 in very five. Grade good-no details in head the word liberty gone. Very fine- Liberty bold including the letter I. The above prices are what a coin dealer would pay.+or-

If it's a gold coin that's a little more big then a quarter, then it's a golden dollar coin(which is, of course, worth a dollar, but in the future it'll be worth more.).

If it's silver and it's a little bigger then a quarter, then it's a coin worth 50 cents.

If it's none of those, then it probably is a rare and valuable coin. Keep it for 10-20 and then sell it, it'll be worth a lot(the longer you keep an old/rare coin, the more valuable it is).

Good Luck

,Phil

I say you invest in that coin because right now it is worth less than a dollar and by time if the dollar goes down the maybe it would be worth about two dollars ESTAMITE

There are basically 2 questions you might ask... First, how much is the current price of the coin you have? Which, is the dealer's selling price. If so, then other's comments above can assist you. Second question is, how much can you expect to get from your coin if you sell it? For this, visit : http://coins.about.com/od/coinvalues/l/bl-liberty-head-v-nickel-values.htm

Find Numismatic News paper, get a coin magazine that lists coin prices, or contact a local coin club, they all will help with your question.
