I am trying to be careful and stay away from them, but they are the head of the company, and it's not like I can ask them to go home, and I can't do my job from my house.... The other boss smokes a lot... And does it right at my desk, at the door, so if it is windy, it just blows right back onto my desk and right in my face. Should I just look for another job.... What would be someones advise, prefereably someone who has gone through this as well....

Does anyone know if I am more or less likely to get sick? My husband heard somewhere that with the baby and everything going on, that my antibodies would be higher to help me not get sick.... Has anyone heard of that before??? Please give honest feedback. I am going to the doctor on Friday, but wanted to have a little more information to work with until then.... Thanks!

I have definatly asked for the sick to not come to my desk and for the boss to not smoke there, but that hasn't made any difference..... He is the president of the company, and if he doesn't smoke in the doorway, he smokes in his office, which is about 20 feet away from my desk, and if he smokes there, it is even worse than the doorway..... I do a lot of work here, and it would be very hard to replace me and for me to stay at home, not making any money... We have insurance that will cover all costs, but as far as me making money, that would be hard if I can't work.... I place the baby above all else though.... I just am confused as to what I can do....

I work as the receptionist/Accounts Payable/answering service/Payroll. Very stressful... Maybe I should just not work here anymore.... There is no way to move my desk without taking away my job....

right now would not be a good time to quit. you are pregnant. when he smokes go to the bathroom to get away from him. bring lysol with you to work and hand sanitizer wash your hands alot and do not rub your eyes. good luck and congrats on the baby.

Your best bet would be to try and stay away from anyone not feeling well because your body is already working overtime at developing that wonderful little person inside you and doesn't need to be fighting off a cold at the same time. Especially if you are already feeling tired. Remember that you can't really take anything for a cold if you do end up getting sick. As for your boss who smokes right by your desk. I would nicely ask if there is somewhere else that they could smoke, not just because your pregnant but out of respect for you in general.

You are more likely to get sick during pregnancy because your immune system is surpressed so that your body doesn't reject the pregnancy.
You should speak to your boss about his smoking. I believe that you have a right to not be exposed to his smoke. Maybe just ask if your desk can be moved as you still get his smoke where you sit.

You are more likely to get sick now. Your immune system is not just for you now, it's for your baby too. Take your vitamins, and wash your hands constantly. Keep GermX with you at all times. Get your flu shot too. I don't know what your financial situation is, but if you can just take maternity leave as soon as you can. Looking for a new job after you have the baby would be best.
