When you think there are about 6 billion on the planet right now, and this planet's been around for a long while... just how many people do you reckon their have been in the whole of history?

They say that there are 10 dead ppl for every one that is alive, so that works out to about 60 billion.

Wait, I heard that when the population was 3-1/2 billion.
Make that 35 billion total.

Yeah I had heard that there were about as many people alive on the planet right now as had lived through history.

I read recently that there are actually more people alive today than the number of people who have died in the whole of history.

That would mean that the total number of people who have ever lived (including those alive now) is no more than 12,000 million.
