It's the same with tomato seeds and sweetcorn. Birds who eat the fruit will 'dump' the seeds later on with a coating of fertiliser.
Sewerage farms will often have tomato plants growing near by where birds have eaten tomato seeds that have been extracted from the sewage and deposited by the birds after eating them.
