I believe that this means a person does not have their head in the clouds and is realistic. A person who is always daydreaming as opposed to dealing with their everyday life would be the opposite of a down-to-earth person. Someone who is down-to-earth is aware of what's really happening.

I think it means that they take every thing as it is, not analyzing and trying to change them.Like the Earth it's self---It is because It is...........Somtimes I think that they are very logical in their thinking.
