We had a couple of people (55 yr olds) staying with us in our home for 4 days. Since they left the bedroom and bathroom that they have used has an extreme foul smell in it.
For over 3 days now we have had the windows open but to no avail the smell still is as strong.
The bed clothes etc has been removed, floors washed etc but still no good.
As the couple showered each day we are dumbfounded what has happened and why we can't seem to find the smell.
Any ideas would be appreciated otherwise wallpaper, flooring etc will have to be removed with is an expense that I would rather do without.
The couple have in there own home 8 cats and a dog but if this smell had been of there clothes then why would it still be in the room if they are not there??
Please feel free to ask any questions that could help get this sorted. We have spoke with professionals in this area and they don't know. Just glad you guys are there to help!!!
Look forward to your answers.
Thanks in advance

The bedroom and the bathroom is in two separate places in the house and both smells now. I could'nt see it bring a dead thing as it would have had to be two dead things happening at the same place same time. Also we have never had any problem with animals before.

Keep ventilating the room, if you can keep the windows open during the day and add an air purifier as well and keep that running all day and night. If you are able to, take the matress outside to air out and try spraying febreeze on it as well as the carpeting if there is any in the bedroom and curtains as well. If that does not work, and you don't have wallpaper in either room, try repainting the walls. If none of that works, I am at a total loss.

It is difficult to know . . . Does their home smell the same way? What kind of smell is it? Try taking out the furniture, including the bed, continue airing the room out. Remove any curtains and anything else removable. Perhaps during the process, the source of the smell will be discovered.
When the rooms are emptied, spray with a deodorizer that contains enzymes to break down and neutralize the odor if possible. If it is not taking care of the problem, at least the room is ready to remove the wallpaper and/or flooring.
When the room is freshened, then you can reinstall each item, one at a time, cleaning them.
One other possibility is that the visitors have little to do with the smell. There may be something dead in the walls, under the house or there may be a problem with the drains in the bathroom.
This is frustrating, I know, but persevere and good luck!

Don't be too hasty about replacing flooring and wallcoverings. Keep ventilating the room and run an air purifier at night. Use copius amount of Febreze at regular intervals. Hotels encounter these problems, and that is how they attack it.
Take the mattress outside and see if the smell remains.
Good Luck!

You could try getting another opinion from a different vet. Obviously, something is very wrong and just telling you is isn't a side effect from the meds isn't helping. She sounds as if she has a serious infection somewhere and maybe another vet would do some tests to find out what is going on. Her bowel could be irritated from the meds or any number of things. Get another opinion, fast.

Maybe it was a perfume or some other product that they use. Or maybe they left food or drinks in the rooms?
How about putting a bowl of baking soda in each of the rooms?
Good luck!

SEE IF THEY RAT HOLED SOME OLD STINKY CLOTHES IN SOME OF YOUR FURNITURE, OR UNDER BED. SEARCH HIGH & LOW -
WHEN I WAS A KIDS, WE HAD RELITAVES FROM SICILY VISIT FOR A 2 WEEKS... THEY TOOK ONE BATH & AFTER THE FIRST WEEK MY MOTHER FORCED THEM TO WASH CLOTHES AS THEY WOULD CHANG SHIRTS 4 TO 5 TIMES A DAY WITH OUT DEODERANT! IT TOOK 2 WEEK FOR THE STENCH TO SUBSIDE AFTER THEY LEFT... TRY INSENCE & OPEN THE WINDOWS!!! WORTH THE COST OF THE EDIT!

But may not be them. Have you recently put out any poison? Thinking it maybe something in the walls or attic that died. Otherwise, I am at a loss.
