No because there are people that are always going to believe the US did it... I think some of them actually believe that Bush was the person in the mask that put the noose around his neck.

As you know the execution took place.

It is my opinion that the U.S. was only attempting to ensure that the execution was fully legal vis a vis Iraqi law amidst some legal entreaties that were made and sent to the US that turn over of Saddam was NOT legal.

I also feel that the US didn't really want the execution during the Christmas period.

Regardless, nothing will stop the "US Murdered Saddam" contingent from continuing to say so.

nope.. even though the Iraqi court is who put him to death.. people blame us seeing as how it was our military that put him in the court.. and so they just assume it was our court or that we rigged it or something... I was split 60/40 against hanging Saddam (not that that matters now lol) and though i feel the request by the US was as much about P.R. as it was about logic.. it was the Iraqi's that are in power now that made the decision.. for right or wrong.

I think it shows our military commanders understand the situation better than both the Bush administration and the
Iraqi leadership !
I don't think it will stop the bandwagon and I'm sure conspiracy theorist are already writing the book !

Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, a Shiite, was determined to put Hussein to death before the beginning of the Eid al-Adha holiday.

Well he proved he wasn't a puppet didn't he?

I doubt it. I actually hope this forces the administration to pull back some support for the Iraqi government. We're trying to help them and they just keep ignoring us and making these huge glaring mistakes. How many times do we let this happen before they pull us down with them?

Some sort of political gain from this for the Bushite. Trying to make himself look good. Bloody George is what he is - bloody and a liar.

'An Iraqi source said'... doesn't that tell you evrything you need to know? Planting stories like this in CNN is way beyond anything the administration could have contrived?....right?

I DO NOT BELIEVE THE STORY.

You're reading too much into it. I felt it was rushed and didn't think it was a good idea to have the execution right before a Muslim holiday. They had 30 days so there was no reason to rush.

I think that's proof positive that you can't believe everything you read.
