I have an iPod 30G, and I'm actually not computer illiterate, but a friend of mine told me that the 30G run off of a hard drive and will get messed up from the motion if you were to go running with that iPod.

Is this true?

You would think that it would get messed up from the motion, but I think that iPod hard drives are actually designed for running. I'm not 100% sure about this, but a friend of mine goes running with his 30Gb iPod and has never had a problem with it.

If the iPod capacity has two digits, it contains a hard drive. If it is smaller (like a Nano), it uses flash. To damage the hard drive, you would need to drop the iPod from your roof or drag it behind your car. Jogging will not do it.
