Now that indeed is a tricky question.

There is no doubt that MASS and energy are interchangeable. Indeed, the mass of an object changes dependent on its motion relative to an observer, and the bulk of the mass of particles like protons and neutrons (over 2/3 of it) arises from the binding energy of the quarks that make it up.

But mass is NOT matter.

By matter most people would take you to mean massive particles (as opposed to zero rest mass particles). And quantum conservation laws govern the way these particles behave. For instance, baryon number is a conserved quantity.

What this means is that qhile the number of particles may change in nuclear reactions, there are rules on how these changes can happen and they cannot just pop into existence because you have a bit of spare energy about. And the mass of these particles is frame dependent so it makes it hard to even say how much matter you have.

But in general, I think the answer to your question has to be no - at least not since the big bang.

Sure,I don't know what Pure Energy is, but Energy is a Force and a Substance, so it is theoretically possible.

What is energy? The leading form of energy - the basis of everything else in our universe, is that of the value of "h". This is a very small value, likely the value of gravitational energy. This form of energy in turn forms electromagnetic energy, which in turn forms mass by means of electrons (also called quarks) and its multiples into protons and neutrons. Because matter is able to be reduced into energy, energy is able to be converted into mass.

I would guess they can not be. My reason for guessing this is how can you make something have mass when you dont have mass to begin with... I believe mass can create energy tho but first you would have to find REAL mass something I think we will find to be the rarest element in the universe lol.

Yes - as matter and energy are different forms of the same thing - they are completely interchangable if you know the secrets of the universe.
