I have an aloe plant that is quite healthy and would like to use it to grow another one. I heard you just pull off a leaf from the plant and plant it in a cup of soil and it will grow roots. Is this true? If not, please tell me how to do it

Yes, you can just take the leaf off of your existing aloe and plant it to grow a new one. The best thing about Aloe Vera is that they are VERY resilient. Mine has been dug through by my puppy at least three times now and is still thriving. What I'm saying is that even if you think you didn't do it correctly, your aloe will probably still make it. They survive in the worst of adversities.

I have never tried that with an aloe leaf so I don't know if that actually works. Your old aloe plant should form new plants that shoot up around the old one. About once a year I need to thin down my plants because so many new ones are sprouting up in the pots. I started with eight this last time and there may be about 50 plants out there right now (they are on my patio in pots). The new plants will have their own roots and you just pot them in a new pot.

Yes it is true. It's called a cutting, and you pull a leaf or some other part off of the plant and place it in soil and grow it like you would any other plant. Hope this helped.

I think your right, you have to pull off the whole leaf though. Its probably just easier to buy a new one thou.
