We are traveling on an around the world ticket from Australia to Washington D.C. with a stopover in Europe (3 to 5 days). I haven't booked the Europe stop over so I am flexible with the country (we would like to avoid Heathrow airport). Are there any great kid resorts in Europe close to hands on children musuems? etc.. Any feedback and advice is appreciated.
Thanks, dingojen

Don't leave out Munich in South-Germany. There is a great Legoland nearby, a very nice zoo, and the famous Deutsches Museum (which is the greatest in the world) has a fabulous department for children (Kinderreich des Deutsches Museums). This museum also has lots of planes, warships and other interesting things to see.
You can visit the Alps by train for 25 euro's (max. 5 persons). Within 1,5 hours you can see the Zugspitse in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is the highest mountain in Germany.

You can do one of two things, you could pass Paris and go to Disney World there or you could pass through Amsterdam and go on the canal rides etc. However, you need to always be with your kids and keep them in sight. Paris would be the best option. Germany is also another idea.

My son loved Neuschwanstein at that age, and there are plenty of hotels around that area.

Konigsee was also a great place to bring my son, there's a church out in the middle of the lake that you have to take a boat to.

A lot of people have answered this, but we did take our son to Disneyland Paris.
