Try flea power? Turn the computer off. Unplug the power cable. If it's a notebook take out the battery. Hold down the power button for 1 minute. Plug back in an test. That may get it to work.
Otherwise, go into your BIOS (usually by tapping Delete or F2 while the computer starts) and ensure that the USB ports are enabled.

If u built your PC you may want to open up the case and see if the USB cables are hooked into the motherboard right. That might help.

I just had this issue with a new HP laptop. If it is new it is under warentee. Call the maker. Make sure you try several USB devices ( a camera, a memory stick, etc.) to make sure it is not the device itself.

Did they ever work? If not load the drivers from your motherboard driver disk.
If they did and have now stopped, enter the BIOS and check to see if they are turned on.
If they are turned on, then go to MY COMPUTER and right click the ICON, then go to HARDWARE, then open DEVICE MANAGER, and right at the bottom of the list you should see a listing for UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS.
If they are not listed then you definately need to load your drivers.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
