Arbre de Noël, L' /The Christmas Tree/When Wolves Cry 1969
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064037/

Starring: William Holden

"Since the death of his mother, Pascal, ten years old, spends his holidays with his father, the rich Laurent Segur. One day, when diving near the shores of Corse, an aircraft falls into the sea. The holiday goes on happily with Catherine, the young and pretty girlfriend of Laurent. But soon blue marks appear on the face of Pascal. He has been contaminated by a nuclear weapon carried by the destroyed plane, and he won't survive more than six months. There is nothing Laurent can do, except give his son the best six months he has ever lived."

I saw this movie when I was a kid and it still disturbs me now just thinking about it.

My Life with Nicole Kidman and Michael Keaton. Another one from I think the 70's called "Who will Love My Children". I wish I could find that movie and see it again. About a very poor woman with an alcoholic husband and 8 children back in the 40's, I think, is dying of cancer, and before she dies finds homes for each of the children . So you are crying each time she gives up a child.

The saddest movies i've got considered are "Pay It forward" starring Haley Joel Osment, and "P.S. i like You" with Gerard Butler and Hilary Swank. "Pay It forward" is a few youngster who starts off a great chain of kindness according to a project in his Social analyze classification. (Ever heard of the term 'pay it forward'? Or if no longer, Rachel Scott's (Rachel's project) message is a similar element.) "P.S. i like You" is through a few distance the SADDEST action picture EVER. Sweetest, besides, yet so unhappy. yet i'm a sucker for romantic tragedies.

Planet of the Apes

Men crash on a planet controlled by apes, with man being a lesser species. They wonder how the world got that way, and at the end of the movie, they discover that mankind did it to themselves.

I really HATE to give away things about movies people may not have yet seen, so I don't want to say too much.

It's a great movie, and gives you plenty to think about.

Check it out. Find plot summaries here:

In my personal experience, the saddest movie I've seen was "Shadowlands" starring Anthony Hopkins and Deborah Winger. He plays C.S. Lewis and it tells the love story between he and Deborah Winger's character. She wound up dying of cancer. I found the movie so sad. It broke my heart. (Of course, this could be because I thought it was going to be a (happy) love story and my grandmother had recently died of cancer, so it struck a chord with me.)
