When your car drives over the nail the magnetic fields from the brake calipers cause the wheel to react as a magnet, thus pulling the nail through the tyre

Well, apart from the obvious answer, there are some malicious people that will prop up a nail under a tyre (pointing to the middle of the wheel) of parked cars so that when you drive off, the nail will puncture it.

It happened to me.

Nails are dropped from vehicles carrying scrap etc, then you pick them up in your tyres!!

My guess; and this is a long shot, is because you probably drove over one. Someone purposely left nails on the road just so that you would run over one.

You can run over a nail anywheres at any time..... it happens.... just get it removed and plugged.
