You can eat fish. The reason women are told not to consume too much seafood is because of the iodine content in seafood. If your not eating seafood large quantities you'll be just fine.
What you want to stay away from are foods that are processed, and preserved. That means Hamburger helper meals, t.v. dinners, canned veggies and fruits. Even some cereals. Look out for things that are hydrogenated. Not good for you. You want to eat as natural as you can. Eating fresh raw, grilled, steamed, or baked vegetables is great for you. If you eat them raw you get more vitamins and minerals. Eat poultry, beef, fish... Don't fry them. Just broil, bake, or grill them. Stay away from lots of seasonings and don't use margerine. Use butter, but just go light on it.

That's true, anything caffeinated should be avoided, but I believe it's okay to have 2 cups of coffee per day, anything more than that is risky. Shell fish should be avoided because of the mercury content. And if you're going to eat deli meats, they should be heated a little in the microwave because of the risk of bacteria (I forget the name of the bacteria, but it can be dangerous in pregnancy.) Good luck!

I have never been told not to eat fish during pregnancy, I think this one is a myth, but to be sure...ask your doctor. He is the best source to go to with maternity questions. Of course, you want to avoid all alcoholic beverages, coffee, soda, non herbal tea (caffiene) and the rule of thumb is, just eat a healthy, well balanced diet. If it's not good for you, it's not good for the baby. Get lots of rest and exercise (walking is fine) and just take extra good care of yourself! Taking care of you, means you are taking care of the baby! My best wishes to you and your husband!

I would advise you and your partner not to drink any caffeine or alcohol. Those are a few harmful drinks. Try to eat healthier like less carbs and more protein and fiber......and fruits/vegetables. Good luck...........baby dust to all!
