Why, in a relationship do ones emotions and desires allways seem to make absoultly no sense what so ever if you take a step back and view them with a logical point of view? I dont think there is an answer, but i am interested in hearing peoples opinions.

i think as you mature, your emotions and desires do become alot more logical,, atleast i feel that has been true in my case,,,,,,,,i tend to lead into relationships more with my logical side/view,,, then emotions follow ,, or if i feel an emotion or desire, and it doesnt feel right/logical/positive to pursue it,,,, i recognize that and dont follow threw , its like being able to feel intense deep love and desire for someone, yet knowing that you do not have to be with them,,, if its not good for you overall

It is not right to say that logic and emotion seem contradicting. When these two merge ( often it does) we donot notice at all. we take for granted. Like happiness. When you are happy you donot ask at all why you are happy. But when sad, you ponder why you are low in spirit. don`t you?

Emotion is instantaneous and inborn characteristic. You simply emote . Then comes the recall of the stored information in the brain and the conditioning . This is the onset of the logic. This gets superimposed on the emotional state immediately and then you react. either you seem to feel that it is contradictory or in unison.

Logic is fact, determined by research often Proving it to be accurate, and valid.

Emotion is irrational and born of chemical reactions, and while it may seem to be ones "Truth" it is as open to debate as is Logic.

It may be that the logical mind is perfectly happy being so, but that doesn't deny that it can't FEEL (Unlike Dr. Spock in Star Trek)
Similarly the emotional mind, if at all lucid in moments has the ability to equate the "feelings" to logic.

It is really a great question!!

Could the answer simply be perhaps that we do not notice any logical emotion.... when the feeling is logical, it seems like a thought rather than an emotion. Only when it crosses the threshold of logic that we get to notice it is an emotion.

Logic has nothing to do with emotion, and vice versa. I am an emotional person married to a very logical person. We manage to meet in the middle. I think if we were both the same, our relationship wouldn't/couldn't last. You have to have a balance.

Logic and emotions do not contradict... they are two separate things.

Emotion is a reaction to something.
You can react to something logic or not logic.
The only difference is that you will react differently.
One needs to control his/her negative emotions as it is not politically correct to get angry these days. You need to bottle it all up and get stressed instead. Stress is popular in the 21st century. Everyone has it.

Perhaps logic and emotions don't always contradict each other. It's just that it's not necessary for us to step back and look at the full perspective when they are adequately aligned. And so we only take notice of their alignments when they aren't aligned.

because, emotions are created with self-gratification and the quest for relief in mind, whereas logic and rellevance requires one to face the truth head-on with full determination and realism, which can be brutal, confronting and too much for the ordinary human at times.

fyi the human mind consists of three parts, two of them the id and superego, both of which represents the two contradicting standpoints you have mentioned and therefore exists a third party which tries to mediate the demands of both the heart and brain.

sorry for digressing.hope that helped.

Logic is conducted within the left hemisphere of the brain while emotion is from the right side.

I think because when we think by the head, we realize the reality, and in reality something is possible and something is impossible, so we go after something which possible and benefit us. but emotions, they only realize goods and those which benifit us in the short term...=contradiction.
sorry for my english
