That haunting theme tune and enchanting musical score was part of a 13 part black and white dramatization syndicated in the U.S.A. in 1964 and first screened in Britain on BBC TV in 1965. It was repeated in the 1970's. For many years it has been etched in the consciousness of thousands of people who have fond memories of the series.

Remember it well. It's on Limewire under TV theme tunes. Great piece of music. Brings back many memories.

Oh man, I can 'hear' the tune now! Lots of strings.
Many, many fond memories from when I was a kid.
Do you remember the other one too?... Spanish programme, English dubbed, I think, started off singing, "You've got to fight for what you want, and all that you believe...."
Mid- 1700's historical programme. Just great it was!
