Every member of my family has a different nickname for me. None of them derogatory. The only real time I am called by my full name is by people who don't know me that well. Often my friends will shorten my name to one syllable.

The first colonies in North America, were not set up by some homicidal religious freaks who ran aground at a place called 'Plymouth Rock'. They were set up in places like 'Roanoke' some centuries earlier. They were set up by permission and charter by a lady whose full title was Elizabeth Tudor (a Welsh surname), but who became known by her subjects as 'as" Gloriana" or "Good Queen Bess". She undoubtedly saved the country or countries of Great Britain and Ireland from Spanish invasions which would have left your country (the USA) a Spanish speaking theocracy run by the Pope and the torture chambers of the Spanish Inquisition. If you want another name, take her Welsh nickname of 'Bess'. It is short and memorable and sounds pleasant to the ear.
