I agree myspace is a good alternative. Snapsing and projectplaylist.com are also good. Project playlist will let you create a playlist with up to 75 songs and it has a standalone player for you desktop. Not sure if you are looking for downloads or just want to hear it on you pc. Good luck.

most unsigned bands are setting up myspace pages these days so check out Myspace.com and see what unsigned bands you can find

www.tagworld.com make up a page to put the word out what your looking for and they will come to you. I have been a member there for a while and had alot of new artists ask me to go to their web sights to listen to their music, in some cases you can vote too, and add he music you like to your web page, and it is free to be a member.
