If you know and care enough about America and the current crisis to qulify as an answerer, then I need not explain anything else to you beyond the question itself...

Seriously, what measures can we take?

Michael Savage advocates bringing prosecution against them under the RICO statutes--which is an accurate and legitimate charge, but hardly realistic to expect anyone in goverment to be able to bring given the politically correct climate and fears of "McCarthyism", etc...

But the founders of the ACLU were indeed avowed communists, whose stated goal was the overthrow of free-enterprise and our Constitutional rights...so far they are succeeeding in their campaign.

Any ideas about how to effectively fight them?

Currently they wage war by sending scores of lawyers against hapless and underfunded ranchers, schools, municipalities, etc...and simply intimidate or bankrupt whomever into settling...

You need to turn off your AM radio.

If anything is destroying our schools it is Development Corporations who come into communities build all of these new houses and leave the community holding the bag for the added expense of educating the children. They make all these wild claims of added jobs etc. But the end game is ALWAYS the same. A few years after these developments go in, there is a levy for a new school, then after they force the levy down our throats, they come back with a new levy to staff and operate the schools. You can almost set your watch by it. Then before you know it, everyone loses sense of community and feels disconnected. Don't blame ACLU blame Corporate greed.

Well to start with, you are pretty darn close to the root of most of America's problems. The public education system in the USA is a total embarrassment. The best thing we can do is abolish it completely. Of course that is not going to happen, so the next best thing we can do is pass legislation for school vouchers. Force schools to compete for students (and therefore for funding) and the quality of education will skyrocket.
Once the education of our children is out of government hands, then morals, integrity, self-respect and reliance and accountability will return to our culture.
There is an opposition group called the ACLJ who works against the ACLU. You might try them out.
I'd like to close by pointing out that communism is not totally an evil thing. On a small scale it is quite efficient and even the best structure. On a small scale, that is. By way of example, I give you the American Family. So long as you stay on a small scale like that of the family unit or a church, communism works well. But it fails miserably when dealing with larger numbers of people.

The republicans are on the right track...get rid of civil liberties, and you have nothing to defend. But we americans like our freedoms, so I doubt you will be completely successful. How about making your own decisions, and not expecting government to do it for you?

There are legal organizations set up to fight against the ACLU's jihad against religion and society. Alliance Defense Fund regularly fights against the ACLU's attack on 1st Amendment rights.

The worst thing about the ACLU is that somehow, we the taxpayers are funding them. That's just wrong!

If we get rid of the ACLU, who else is going to fight for our right to free speech and privacy. They even supported Rush Limbaugh a few years back by filing petitions against the seizing of his medical records.

Liberalism is slowly falling apart by it's own sick ideology. Nancy Pelosi marched proudly with NAMBLA, and I don't think too many Americans really support such an action.
