Bhat (Rice), Dal (Pulses), Bhaja (Fry - maybe veg or non veg), Tarkari/Sabzi (Vegetable preparation), Machh (Fish), Chutny. That's what most bengalis eat at home. The fare at eateries may be more varied.
Try (1) Suruchi, 89, Eliot Road, Kolkata-16.
(2) Bhajahari Manna, Gariahat and park Street
(3) Aaheli, Peerless Inn, Chowringhee.
All the three serve authentic Bengali fare. The quality is extremely good here.
