Why? Because the Sunni Arabs now are protesting the hanging of Saddam. Kind of too late to protest after his death. It is interesting to see that the Sunni Muslims are protesting but not the Shiites!

I think it is more of a media ploy to show to that U.S. is not the barbaric nation that many foreigners make us out to be. There were people in our government that did not want to hand him over, most of whom don't believe in capital punishment in general and even those that do, think the death by hanging is primitive; is done correctly, the neck is snapped and death is instantaneous...if not, it can go on for up to 10 mins if the person is slowly strangled to death by the rope, with the help of gravity.

One thing to keep in mind is the U.S. did not hang him; we only turned him over and his own country hanged him for the atrocities that he had committed during his regime. People who naysay about hanging him should read the various biographies about this man before opening their trap...he has even killed members of his only family to advance his personal agenda.

They just don't want it to seem that he was hung because of stuff that he did against the US, the official reason that he was hung was because he brutally killed and tortured 148 people....

It is apparently true. I thought it was assumed they wanted him executed as soon as reasonably possible.
News is news and people are interested in the intrigues of governments.
