This is my first pregnancy and at my doctors appointment on Friday she said I was dilated 1 cm. Well on New Years Eve I laid on the couch all day due to pain in my lower stomach & throwing up. This morning when I got up and went to the bathroom and wiped there was this thick mucus looking stuff on the toilet paper & I think it was part of the mucus plus. It was probably about the size of a half dollar. I have always heard that it has some blood streaked through it, but this didn't, so I am really not sure what it was. I have some light cramping, but not real bad. Has anyone had this same kind of thing before and about how long before you went into labor? I have a doctors appointment tomorrow and will ask her then, but was just wondering about it now. Any advice would be nice. Thank you!!

The mucus plug may or may not contain trace amounts of blood. Just like you may or may not lose the whole thing at once. Everything you've mention suggests that labors on it's way. I wouldn't be surprised if you see your doctor up in the maternity ward, instead of the clinic tomorrow.

If labor doesn't start tonight or tomorrow, don't fret. You're body will knows what it's doing, and you're well on your way. Congrats! My predictions indicates a baby by the end of the week! (But what do I know? ha ha)

I did not have the "bloody show" either, but a lot a mucus, however I did have contractions, that could be the cramping you feel. I know because this is your 1st pregnancy, you don't know what contractions feel like. I didn't realize I was having contractions until they were about 12 minutes apart and especially because they weren't really bad. I went to the hospital when they were 3 minutes apart as per my doc's advice during those last check-ups. They ended up sending me home b/c I was only 1 cm dilated, however I did end up going back that same evening b/c the contractions got stronger, though they never became less than 3 mins. apart. So, I've said all of that to say, I think you should contact your doc and tell him/her about your symptoms b/c it sounds like its close. Good Luck!

It sounds like you have lost a bit of your mucus plug. You may notice more later on as you dilate more. You may also be in the beginning stages of labour and unfortunately it can last for awhile. I was having light cramping for about a week before I started having stronger contractions. To help it to progress faster you can take some long walks, eat some spicy food if you like it or even try to have some sex (it does help to make things happen). Talk to your doctor tomorrow and have her check your progress.

Hopefully everything progresses quickly for you. Good luck!!!

Yep. You are in the early stages of labor. Those slight cramping is the beginning. They will increase as time goes by. Walk if they get going pretty good, if they slow down or stop then its false labor. Meanwhile, rest and get your bag ready for your stay at the hospital. Don't forget the socks, brush your teeth too....lol.. All that breathing make your mouth dry and taste bad. You can remain at 1 for a week or progress to delivery in no time. This is your body it does this part on its own schedule. Patience the end is in sight... Good luck.

I think that it is your mucus plug, because mine didnt have blood streaks through it either, it looks like slime! be careful with the stomach cramps because when I was 9 months i woke up with cramps and just thought I was getting sick and then a few hours later I realized the stomach cramps was indeed contractions. I thought I would know what contractions felt like but instead it just felt like stomach cramps that came every 5 mintures. Good Luck

Congrats.. you are going to be a new Mom sometime in the next few days- possibly a week from now
everyone is different on when they go into labor after losing the plug- took my body 2 days before I endured my 4 hour labor and popped that baby out
again.. Congrats

I have the exact same symptoms. I saw my doc on Friday and was told it could be weeks still. He wasn't holding his breath for this week at all:(. GOod luck. Don't panic and just wait for your appt tomorrow. Some will say that the mucus plug means you will start labor soon but everything I have read and my doctor said it could be up to two weeks still...

I in uncomplicated terms had an afternoon of the plug popping out. It grew to become into reddish brown and mucusy(sticky). That grew to become into at 37weeks i introduced by way of induction and then c-section 40 weeks and 3 days. At my 39week examine up i grew to become into 2cm besides yet on no account have been given to any extent further than that. i think of it is all how your physique and mom nature choose it to be. i do no longer think of there's a timeframe of while and how after the plug is long gone. having reported that it is something a expert would desire to tell you extra approximately. i can in uncomplicated terms tell my tale. stable success and chuffed transport.

I am a guy but until someone responds to your question I quess I guess I can take a shot. I can remember when my wife had her first child I think when she got to 4 cm we were on our way to the hospital. So if things start to get worst call your doctor or any nurse or hospital ask them for advice. May God bless you.
