Or do you really just want people to accept your real self?

Sometimes it's about feeling pleased about being able to articulate a viewpoint or being given the opportunity to consider an issue then formulating a hypothesis.
What is the real self anyway? It is transient and in flux and changes with every experience we have.

I would prefer to be accepted for the real me.

To look clever, no, but maybe sometimes my sense of humor comes over that way, it's not intentional. I just like to have fun.

if you act too clever people think of you as a nerd and find that you are more of a loser than u already are. stick with being your normal self you never know your hobbies and intrest might impress people out in the world

I believe that the people that act clever (which consequently makes them false) are the boring ones, so I give my opinion to people and let them make up their minds in a positive way towards me, as I go along (obviously with a little encouragement from me!!). It doesn't matter who you are or what you want to be, you will always find someone who dislikes you and disagrees with most if not everything you believe and say. It is impossible to please everyone, so the best thing is to please yourself, and be the person you want to be.

I want people to accept me for what I really am - an immensely impressive person who oozes cleverness out of every pore. But you already knew that; it's alarmingly obvious.

i really dont like it when people try hard to act clever.. its sad, you shouldnt be so competitive. i would say that if some one doesnt mind sounding dumb sometimes but acts clever a lot of the time, theyre being real - but if theyre embarassed when they "slip up" and say something dumb, theyre thinking about their image and trying to look clever

I insist that they accept me as the real deal - superior to them in every way and destined to be the supreme ruler of the entire universe. Bow now before my greatness ....

i try not to look clever, because most people find it annoying, so in general i am accepted.
but they aren't accepting me for who i am if they dont know how intelligent i am , so i have a nasty habit of waiting till a bit of information i know comes up then telling them , it usualll suceeds in confusing them
