The window is not sliding. The adjacent walls are masonry.

Sorry! This is not the best plan. Cut the opening in the door instead.
Call some window companies and ask them. I'm sure they are going to say...don't cut into dual paned windows.
They have a gaseous seal inside of them that creates the clear look and the insulating properties. You'll loose out on all of that and ruin the window entirely.
A door is simpler and in most cases cheaper.
I have also installed pet doors in stucco masonry walls. You build a square sleeve that covers the opening just wood will do it. Then install the pet door on the inside and another one on the outside. There are even some design of pet doors that have the sleeve in the kit. It's called a "ruff weather door"

Good luck.

DO NOT CUT A HOLE IN YOUR WINDOW!

There is a gas between the panes that helps the performance of the window. This will ruin your window.

Try putting your cat door in an exterior door.

If you can't do that, if you do go through your masonry walls, have a PROFESSIONAL install it for you. I know this is going to be expensive, but do it for your walls. If the door is not properly flashed or installed, you will have horrible water problems.

Please do not ruin your windows. Hope this was helpful!

It can't be done at all. You could order a new Thermo-Pane with an opening in it for a cat door, but it will be REAL EXPENSIVE. I would look at making an opening in the masonry, it's going to be cheaper and easier. You could look for an operating window to install the cat door in, in another place in your home. Cutting the glass is NOT an option.

First thing you MUST DO. Check to see if the glass is tempered. My guess it is, or this is an older home.
Yes, the people who stated you will break the seal are correct, however, you can cut the glass with a high speed diamond blade and water.
If and only if, IT IS NOT TEMPERED. IT WILL EXPLODE IF IT IS.
You will lose your R-value in the window but it can be done.
Personally, I would not do this. I would install a single/double hung window and use the opening part to install your cat door. Plus, you can secure you house up in the winter.

That is NOT POSSIBLE. You can remove it and install a plexiglas (plastic) window and cut the cat's hole prior to installing it. The 'plastic' window will still allow light to enter and do the job.
Good luck!

You cannot do that. Replace the glass door with a wooden one then cut your hole in it.
