Depends on the printer...

If it's a big laser then it's found somewhere to hide a sheet of paper that you've not seen yet... in the fuser or duplexer is a good bet. Check real carefully and you may see it. Maybe it's only a piece torn off a sheet stuck in a switch.

If it's a small inkjet and there really is *no* paper in it, try picking it up and putting it down *firmly* on the desk in case a switch is jammed. If it's gone wrong, it's *not* worth getting it repaired because a new one would cost you less than an hours repair labo(u)r.

If it's somewhere in between big and expensive and disposable, check in case a piece has jammed a sensor... and if you really can't find any paper jammed, try power cycling it then call maintenance / take it to a repair shop / replace it with a newer better and more eco friendly one!

Sell the dead one on eBay - some one will be sure they can fix it and will buy it!

There are a couple of places that it can jam up. Check the paper tray. Check the output tray. Look in the back of the printer to see if there is an access panel that you can open (usually laser printers). If it is a laser printer, remove the toner and drum and look inside for any sign of paper in the rollers. The other option is to contact the manufacturer to find out the possible locations of the jam. The last thing I can think of is that the printer is malfunctioning.

When my printer said paper jam it turned out that something had fallen into the printer, preventing it from working. You might want to check if there is something stuck inside. Oh and about the South of Nowhere question, there is going to be a third season. If you want a spoiler go to this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_of_nowhere#Season_synopses

Turn the printer off.
Reboot your PC.
Turn the printer on.

If it still doesn't work and you can't find the problem take it to a repair shop.
