I drank a soda about an hour before my test and it worked a little too well. The baby was moving around so much they couldn't get a good look at him. He spread his legs wide, though, so we got to know it was a boy but then he decided we'd seen enough and wouldn't let us peak at his heart. Just like a man!
Good luck!

I know that when you go into labor, if the baby isn't active enough they will give you apple or grape juice. The sugar gets em all hopped up:). But last week when I went to my non-stress test thing, they gave me ice water...the baby went nuts in there! Ever since then I have noticed that when I drink a big really cold glass of ice water, the baby really really moves around. The nurse who gave it to me said it was a new study that showed cold water was as effective as juice...

Just like adults, it seems like babies have their preferences when it comes to what makes them move. Mine isn't truly responsive to sugary drinks, or even to caffiene and candy...it's always been the really cold, icy beverages that get her going. All it takes is a tall glass of ice water and she bounces around a lot in there. Why don't you experiment today so that you will have a better shot tomorrow...try the juice thing and the water thing and try to figure out which works better :)

Drink something sugary right before your appointment. A big glass of orange juice works pretty well most of the time.

My wife told me that our son would move a lot when he heard different sounds. I've also heard about the juice thing as well.

If you ingest a little sugar about 30 min. to an hour before you see your doctor your baby will get a little extra energy. I just ate some glazed donuts before I went. It worked pretty good. Although, I do not advise eating glazed donuts.

I just asked the same question- lol:) Good Luck to you! I've heard of eating MandMs- I doubt any of this works, but GOD... it's worth a try! I'm so anxious to start buying and decorating! lol and not to mention picking out a NAME! Hubby and keep butting heads and it would be nice to only come up with names for one sex!

My doctor told me drink some regular coke (with the caffeine). And it works. You are allowed 2-3 cups of a caffienated beverage a day (coke, coffee etc)
