My crimbo tree and leave all the gear on it to try and make it last untill this coming crimbo......or at leased get my 40 quids worth out of it?

Keep watering it but change the deco's regular to fit in with the seasons of the year and by this next crimbo you will have a fab tree, happy new year Dodds and all the best.
