I think it is because you have an American keyboard, mine is a Microsoft Elite and it is similar but it can be programmed if you are more accustomed to English keyboard. I expect you also have a dollar sign on number 4. You will have to look in onscreen Help files 4 troubleshooting tips. or Readme.txt on installation CD. Sorry I can not be a lot more help other than look at any literature that came with your keyboard and mouse.

Try pressing together Shift and Ctrl. I'm not sure if it will work. But sometimes, while my keyboard works fine, changes to the above and when i press Shift and Ctrl at the same time gets back to normal.
Good luck!

Your using an american keyboard layout. Switch it in control Panel => Date Time and Regional Settings => Regional and Language Options. And then switch the dropdown box to English (United Kingdom). Hope that helps!
