Does silent hill the film have anything to do with the game series?

the characters dont match. thats why i am having a hard time trying to fit it into the series

The character names in the movie may of been different, but the story is line is spot on to the game. The accident in the beginning of the movie is fatal for everyone involved, the cop, little girl, mom. They are all dead and hence is how they reach the town Silent Hill which is a purgatory between heaven and hell for souls. The real people in the movie that go to Silent Hill to search for the folks missing are still alive and cannot see the purgatory silent hill the others are trapped in.

Member when they try and leave, how the roads are removed? Silent Hill was a place for souls to save themselves from being damned but for some it was too late? They burned the little girl in the movie at the time, and by being ignorant the town folks burned to death as a result, however the girl's evil has a grip on the town and is looking for revenge on everyone that committed the act towards her.

It is a good movie and although sick and twisted if you think about what is going on, it resembles the same fate of the Silent Hill game series.

There are similarities. Instead of Harry Mason going to Silent Hill, It is his wife (who was dead in the game).

It really just mixes up all of the Silent Hill games into 1 movie.

It has some of the same characters (like Cybil) and they share the same name, Silent Hill. It has some enemies like the pyramid head. It really is just a bad videogame movie. It doesn't explain anything really, it gave me a headache.

No and yes. Yes they characters have nothing in like in the movie and games. But the story line is pretty much the same in both.
