Does a toenail always grow back, or is it possible that it may not grow back?

it would depend on whether or not you damaged the area at the back of the nail bed. most of the time they grow back without problem, but there have been times when the growth area was "killed" and the nail does not grow back.

I had my toenails taken off buy a doctor a few times due to ingrown toenails and they always grew back.

It almost always grows back. However, there's always a chance that for some unknown reason, it won't. I've never heard of anyone who did NOT get the nail back after losing it.

No. There is always a chance that it will not grow back if it was torn off all the way. Ouch.

if you've torn it off a lot of times before then it might not grow back. if this is your first time it will definately grow back.

It should grow back fine, but it'll take a pretty long time.
