I'd say they have a chance. Mike Nolan is doing a great job with the team, and he will probably bring in Adalius Thomas, LB from Baltimore, who will be a monster for their defense. If Frank Gore can learn how to hold onto the ball better, they will be a contender. Other than that, just little positions need to be tweaked, like Joe Nedney isn't a keeper for their kicker spot. They'll need to find a new one at some point. Maybe the kicker out of Oregon State Alexis Serna would do nicely for them.

I dont know but that was an interesting game considering they helped the Chiefs make it to the playoffs and that was just all all around good New Years Eve for them I guess, Cincinnati and Tennessee both losing and then they won their game against the Jaguars and it was all up to the 49ers to beat Denver which everyone thought was impossible because their such a good team and had their own shot of making the playoffs but wow that was an interesting game.

Yes, Its at least 50:50 that they win their division if not even better odds for them. I think Frank Gore is one of the top 5 backs in the league and Alex Smith has a lot of potential, I watch a few of his games, and he makes some bone headed plays but he also makes some amazing ones that certainly justify hope in the future, If he can have those flashes of Brilliance more consistantly, they can be one of the top offense in the league...probably want to pick up another receiver tho...the only one they have that I know of is Battle

Definitely. The NFC as a whole is very week, anybody can make the playoffs even with a .500 record. The niners also play in the NFC West which is one of the weakest divisions in football. It would not be hard for them to make the playoffs playing the NFC West 2 games per team. PLus it wouldn't be hard for them to win the division.

A chance, yes, but they will have to play a lot more consistently than they did this year. A couple of problems will be the cards: Lineart really impressed me 2 weeks ago and beating them won't be easy next year, and the seahawks who've had a lot of injuries this year and will no doubt be tougher when they've healed. But the Niners do have a shot, it will be up to them to make the most of it. Here's hoping they do.

Absolutely. Alex Smith will be back with another year of experience, Frank Gore will continue running all over everyone, and they are in a very weak division which never hurts.
