In IE, Right click on any toolbar. A pop up menu will appear. Unselect the ones you don't need by clicking on the names in the list. Repeat for getting rid of more than one toolbar.

In internet explorer 7, you can open internet options (either through the tools menu on the top or through control panel). Click on the content tab and then go to manage add-ons.

If you have IE6, you may have a bit more trouble. Try uninstalling the ones you don't want in add/remove programs. If they don't exist there... you may need to look into some anti-spyware.

Try http://www.hijackthis.de . The program there is a little advanced but if you're careful you can surgically remove any "BHO"s from the system you don't want. Just be careful not to lobotomize your PC.
