Someone in Washington needs to speak up. Why not him? Gore is trying to enlighten the US first, then in the future maybe other countries.

Because we (the USA) is the single largest producer of Green House Gases. The USA is supposed to be the world leader in everything. This country should be leading the way toward a environment that sustains the planet. There are alternatives that can allow us to produce products without destroying the planet in the process.

Since the US is the presumed world leader, the other countries will / should try and emulate or example. However, US corporations have been very reluctant to fore go some short term profits for long term gains both environmentally and economically.

Here its all about producing a cheaply as possible. The real shame is it's cheaper to produce something that pollutes the absolute least since the clean up costs are much less.

I think Al Gore wants everyone in the world to be aware of global warming.
In regard to people not choosing to believe him and thinking he is over reacting to the subject... most people who go against the mainstream and shed the light onto a problem are ridiculed. Not until it becomes abundantly clear and accepted to the majority will understanding and change take place.
Pioneers always endure ridicule when the truth conflicts with what society finds comfort in believing.

To those who STILL chant about Mr. Gore proclaiming to have invented the internet:
He never claimed to have "invented" the technology.

He DID create the legislation that promoted the technology.

According to Vincent Cerf, a Senior Vice-President with MCI Worldcom..." The internet would not be where it is in the United States without the strong support given to it by the Vice-President{Al Gore} in his current role and in his earlier role as Senator".

Joseph E. Traub, a computer science professor at Columbia University claims that "Gore was perhaps the first political leader to grasp the importance of networking the country".
Mr. Gore never claimed to have "engineered" the technology but he was instrumental in the legislation of many things promoting it......
Former Vice-President Al Gore is a very well educated man and in my opinion held to ridicule for not being completely eloquent in his public addresses.
He is a Patriot who is trying to get Americans and the people of the world to open their eyes to a massive global problem.
Please Mr. Gore do not give in! When you know something is right despite current public opinion you must persevere in spite of them!
I hear you! Many of us hear you! Hopefully the others will before it's too late!!!!!!

No one has ever spoke about the larger picture when communism was defeated many leftist socialist had no where to go so they gravitated to the extreme environmentalist groups, animal rights groups etc.
This gave them a stealth platform to try and damage the US economy without people really paying much attention to them.

You will notice they never attack such countries as Mexico, India China which makes our environment policies pristine in comparison, that because that is not their goal. Their goal is reign in the world's strongest economy so we become like everyone else.

Mr. Gore seems to be convinced that human activity is the primary cause of "global warming." He specifically believes that the US people are most to blame, because of our auto emissions into the atmosphere. Some scientists agree with him, others with equally good credentials do not.

There is some politics involved with Mr. Gore, also. He wants to be president of the United States, and this keeps him in the limelight.

No one can speak for Al Gore, except Al Gore.

An American citizen, however, has much more influence on other Americans than on the Chinese. If an American citizen wishes to increase public awareness of the issue, he would be wise to start with efforts that focus on educating his fellow American citizens.

Because America is big., is huge , is free ,everyone can have his own opinion and this means the highest civilization, despite the oficial trend..Actually I don't think global warming is caused by people. In my country in winter is very cold. One winter it reached -20 degrees. If there was a global warming , there will be hot winters. But it is a cold winter full of viroses, and cold people. I dislike winter , I want to move to Mediteraneean see.
Anyway , I think people should stop warming the globe and will better work in ateliers . It will make better shoes, then those made in motor.

I cannot speak for Al Gore but he probably feels he can do something about the American people since it is his native country. Al Gore wouldn't have the same effect in China.

Well...see....he's still crying over losing the election and now blames everyone for the Earth dying...he is a cry baby bedwetter...but the truth is better yet....he has several large investments in company's that would profit from free US gov't handouts to "study" such a problem as most Democrats do, they cannot seem to make a business of their own work so they create a handout program from the govt. It was a fact that he and his puke buddy Clinton, used the military to sieze all competition for fishing rights in Alaska under the guise of over-fishing...well he just used his power and eliminated the competition. He is evil and a loser.

Because Al Gore is an idiot. Anyone who believes in global warming being anything more than part of the evolutionary process is either uninformed or just not to bright.

Remember when Al Gore said he invented the Internet?
