I pulled a dent out of my finder. Do I need to apply a mesh before I bondo the spot?

yes or it dont stick you can also just poke a few holes in it before you apply the bondo

As long as there is not a hole you do not need mesh. Remove all paint before using the filler.

if it's not too deep, NO....but, i would pre-drill a few "Anchor" holes for the "Bondo" to grab.
