Teh tarik, the famous milk tea which is 'pulled' to make it cooler.. Found mostly in mamak(Indian Muslim) stalls.. I once heard of an interesting analogy about it representing the skin colours of the multi-races in Malaysia; tea leaves= Indians, milk= Chinese, teh tarik= Malays.. harmonious mixture of all 3 major races represents the unique culture of Malaysia's own teh tarik. =)

Hibiscus is the national flower of Malaysia, but is it compulsary for everyone to plant this flower in their garden?
So as teh tarik? I don't agree that everyone should drink it once it is established as the national drink. Just as a representative drink for Malaysia.

No. Drinking too much teh tarik will cause kidney stone. National drink, go for healthly not by colours or theme.

Oh well.....I must admit that Teh Tarik is most famous drink in Malaysia and really tasty (if well prepared) Even here in Saigon we have a really good teh tarik prepared by Vietnamese. Tasty! Even better than Mamak's teh tarik in Malaysia

But to say that it's as a national drink....I dont think so.... It's famous BUT.....it's not unique. Even in India they have Teh Tarik. It just that it's not as famous here in Malaysia.

i think it kinda unique and interesting to claim TEH TARIK as Malaysian National Drink..no other country can offer what Malaysia can do especially making an authentic teh tarik..even in 5 Stars hotels proud to recommend this particular drink to its foreign guest..

i think our tourism government must make this as another tourism project

even recently when i went to london..there is this Malaysian Restaurant were so popular among the Brits just because of the Teh tarik!!

Awesome!

Lagi pekat lagi BEST!

Personally I prefer tuak, but being alcoholic it's not likely to become the national drink really, is it?

And what kind of idiot was talking about making teh tarik in space? Haven't they heard of zero gravity?
