Why do people believe that China has one child per family when it is well documented that the population of China has increased from 500 million to one and a half billion since 1950 which is exponential population growth, not negative population growth as would be expected by such social behavior? How is it that earth's population grew so proportionately little until 1950 and has experienced a boom in population since 1950 which is mostly occuring in ASIA? Do you in good conscience expand this population when you know that it is predicted that China will dump more CO2 into the environment in the next 20 years than all of the west in t he last 200. Its pretty tempting to negate the facts when they do not save Chinese face. Pity China is not as concerned about the world and other people on it as it is about its face.

Why is it that you don't? You see the thing is that, there are more people who know that humanity has caused significant climate change than there are liberals that believe the same thing. There are a great number of people from all the gamut of political ideology who can read scientific studies and come to the same conclusions. If you don't believe that humans have affected the plight of global warming, what are you basing your opinions on? What studies do you have to back up your claims? Probably not much.

Why are you asking about what liberals believe? Why are you turning this into a political issue? And why are you only concerned about the views of Americans on this issue? The planet is shared by ALL countries. And the CO2 emmissions of the US exceeds all other countries combined! (Whether or not that causes Global Warming and the end to our planet as we know it is a discussion for another time.) The point is that Americans need to start thinking for themselves...amass all the information you can and formulate your own opinion. Stop looking to one party or another for answers and clues. You are responsible for your own life...why can you not be responsible for your own thoughts? Global Warming is a global issue...not an American one!

Power and Money. The whole purpose of the global warming brouhaha is to allow the UN and the democrat party to control our society. The whole Kyoto "treaty" was designed to facilitate a global Socialist scheme that would force more successful nations to pay blackmail to third world socialists and dictators in the form of "credits". And allow the UN to dictate the economic growth rate of the USA.
Here is a FANTASTIC report on the subject
http://epw.senate.gov/speechitem.cfm?party=rep&id=263759
Note to DiamondDave - Good recap.
Also, another news item not ever mentioned is the huge increase in SOLAR activity in the past decade. Just how are we puny humans causing THAT?
And all the doomsayers of the GW disaster scenario fail to offset their predicted economic costs with positive effects that are also part of the equasion such as longer growing seasons and lower heating costs.

Because they are a people into causes.
First they were against logging (till the fact came out that due to reforestation there are now more trees in the U.S. than 200 years ago)
Then it was the Spotted Owl (till it was found numerous families of Spotted Owls were nesting in stacked cars in wrecking yards in Woodland WA)
Now it's global warming...or is it a pending ice age... (they can't seem to commit but there must be SOMETHING there that needs controlling).

There is no doubt that pollution does not help the environment, but there is absolutely NO proof saying it is the main cause for global warming. There is also NO proof that the current cycle of global warming is any different from any of the other NUMEROUS global warming events that span throughout the EONS of Earth's history (and there are MANY of them in this cyclical pattern)..... Remember that one minor volcanic eruption event spews out more greenhouse gasses than 3+ years of man -made production.... let alone the sea floor's dispersion of methane gas, and the emanations of cattle throughout the world....
With liberals... they love to have their 'liberal guilt'..... everything about man, especially conservative man, is evil in their eyes.....

You link is not a link to NASA research... it is taken from blurbs from the 'World Book Encyclopedia'.... maybe you should look at your link source before posting it...
The FACT is that a majority of scientists do NOT agree as to what is the major contributor of global warming.... as stated, it has happened in-numerous times over the eons, in even greater extremes, and that is without man's 'help'.... again.. there is NO proof that man in the primary contributor of this instance of global warming

Nice try... but your EPA page is a reference page that does NOT link global warming to human activity....
Also the rest of your 'sources' are whck-job groups with an obvious agenda.....
Perhaps YOU should read more!!!!!!!!!!

this is rediculous - humans do not cause global warming. just recently, scientists have found water on Mars - ice is melting there too. is it because of humans? no. global cooling was the big issue in the 70's - and, of course, egotistical people thought that we humans were responsible for that too.
further, there was a significant amount of global warming that went on during the ice age - and i'm pretty sure there were no SUV's around back then.
there are many other real problems to worry about in our society. global warming isn't one of them.

1,300,000,000 people in China, another 1,000,000,000 in India putting out a lot of smoke. Another 300,000,000 in the USA making more smoke than the 2.3 billion. The rest of the industrialized world Europe, Russia with another 700,000,000 making smoke. Then the other 3 to 6,000,000,000 poor, impoverished in the rest of the world who are lucky to rub two sticks together but occasionally make a little smoke. That's why.

I don't know if they believe we cause a SIGNIFICANT amount, but we are responsible for some, and we only have control of ourselves. So take some personal responsibility for your actions.

If I use pam on my non-stick skillets, air deodorizer in my whole house, spray deodorant on my underarms, aerosol hairspray on my hair and I do this just myself every day. How much does it take to burn up the atmosphere? I am just one person...x's this by billions...And your question was why humans cause significant global warming....Now you know.
