Why is it when liberals are asked if...?

they think it is a good idea to do what Bush is doing to combat terrorism through the patriot act, they respond with that Benjamin Franklin quote of, "If someone sacrifices freedom for security, they deserve neither." But when talking about global warming, many of them start yelling at cons. for driving hummers or SUV's and saying that contributes to global warming and we should all stop this. So isn't having people stop driving hummers and SUV's for this reason the same as sacrificing freedom for security?

Its hard to believe you would compare giving up your rights to the choice of vehicle you drive. One point you do not consider is that if we did not drive these suv's and Hummers. We may not have such a dependency on foreign oil. The conservatives are acting liberal in the fact that they have spent any surplus in the budget we had and don't know how to fix the problems while make things worse. The liberals are acting conservative because they would like to conserve the only planet we have to live on. While in the military, I learned there is a big difference between what is right and what is easy. Its easy to say my great great great great grand children will be paying for this so call war on a word. It is also easy to ignore the facts about global warming when the effects will not be truly felt in your life time. Living in the United States of America you have the right to the pursuit of happiness, that should not come at a cost someone else has to pay.

I haven't seen any libs give up their cars or stop using electricity,the so called Big Polluters.
They don't want windmills where they can see them , hydroelectric dams get in the way of fish, nuclear power is a no-no,and solar power means decking over the deserts.
If left to the libs, we'll all live in government housing under a dome,eat soy burgers and the lights will go out at 9 PM.

Shoot drive what ever you want! However don't be complaining in 20 years when taxes are going to be sky high because scientist are trying to find solutions to the problems in order for vegations to live on the planet so you can eat. Or should we just tax the SUV and hummer drivers when the time comes??

You are correct.

But you could also expand the sacrifice of freedom for security to: Welfare, Social Security, Medicare, Smoking Bans, War on Drugs, Minimum wage laws, etc.

These programs are all contrary to the liberty and freedom that is our Constitutional birthright, and most of them are unConstitutional and illegal outlays. They also all attack our rights.

The fevered belief that the Patriot Act or the Military Commissions Act somehow stole key rights is laughable at best. Especially when these same people have no background of grievances over the impact the socialist welfare nanny-state has on our rights and freedoms.

In the US, people are all free to drive hummers. Preserving that freedom of choice may well be the cause of the world to implode. So...do we protect the selfish freedoms of a few and sacrifice the planet?

In the US, people are free to carry guns. Preserving that freedom of choice has led to thousands of accidental deaths of children each year. So...do we protect the selfish freedoms of a few and sacrifice the lives of innocents?

Get your priorities straight. Please. Stop the partisan crap...stop worrying about who said what. Think about the issues themselves...not whose side they represent! Is it really so important for people to drive hummers and carry guns?

Good point, the liberals are people that hate America and all we stand for, they want to change us to there liking. they are not happy living their life their way, they have to have us live it too. But they are hypocrites, and they are cowards.
