No. .Com is the suffix for commercial concerns, and .net is used by ISP's who prefer not to use .com. If the mail isn't addressed correctly it won't reach you. Mail addressed to susie@whatever.com is not the same as susie@whatever.net.

yes - if the dns server is set to resolve the xyz.com and xyz.net names to the same mail server and that mail server is configured to link both addresses to the same mailbox

however, this is very unlikely to be the situation in your case
