A trouble code is stored in your computers memory. Take the other suggestions offered for a free diagnostic scan. Most trouble codes have to do with pollution control devices on your engine. Please fix it! In the long run it could save you lots of gas money and we'll all breathe easier. ;-)=

Take your vehicle to your local auto store, they can hook up the code reader and tell you what needs to be fixed. The check engine light came on for a reason. The old rumor of disconnecting the battery will not do anything. When a code is stored in your computer only the code reader cand erase it, nothing else. It might just be a sensor that is causing your light to come on.

It won't go off because your not addressing the problem. It's a bit like denying that train is headed right for you by applying a blind fold.

At least get the code(s) scanned so you have some idea what you are dealing with.

You mean the idiot light? Take the car to the garage as soon as possible. A sensor somewhere has found something wrong in the engine.
