I recently bought a new pair of boots the morning before a game and they ripped my feet to bits, what is the best way to treat new boots so they don't give me massive blisters?

I had the same problem with my new boots, and found the solution from another answer on this website.

The solution is to have a bath with them on. Or at least sit with them on your feet (don't forget to wear your socks) in a bowl of warm water for at least 15-20 minutes. The heat and the water will soften the leather and help to mould them to your feet.

This helped me to stop my new boots tearing up my feet.

I usually start with what Bob H has said above the warm bath trick does work.

But then for the next stage -

-Get yourself some clear shoe polish (it should be white in the tin)
-then put a really thick layer all around the leather on your boot
-then if you have a gas cooker turn on one of the rings and slowly roll the boots through the flames until the polish melts and becomes liquid (it may ignite but don't worry)
-because of this the polish will soak into the boot and permanently protect them (this will also improve waterproofing of the boot)

Dale's Dubbin and two pairs of socks.
Get the boots nice and warm beforehand, they'll just yum up the dubbin when you apply it (use a J cloth).

Its a tuffy with footy boots though, since you can't realistically break them in through normal wear.

Good luck.

totally agree with bob on this one, its what i do with all new boots and also get a size too big also, youll be suprised with how much better that is.
make sure you put dubbing on before wearing them for a game.
anti blister pads dont stay in place and sole protectors dont work much either but have found wearing blades instead of studs also helps.
good luck.

Nickwax or Dubbin. Either softens the boot. Alternitivly just work the leather by bending it/ massaging it.

Dubing or g-wax them before you wear them. If they are on tight they shouldn't give you blisters.
